Just when fans believed the people behind NBA 2K couldn’t do anything else to upset gamers, they decided to add unskippable adverts in NBA 2K21, something that obviously didn’t please anybody. Last weekend NBA 2K21 players noticed that unskippable ads for the Oculus Quest 2 were appearing during pre-game, which didn’t happen when they first bought the new installment of the video game.
One week later, NBA 2K21’s Twitter account addressed the situation, apologized to fans and explaining that these ads were not meant to run as part of the pre-game introduction.
“As many are aware, in recent years ads have been integrated into 2KTV segments,” The statement reads. “Yesterday’s 2KTV ad placement impacted our players’ experience in a way we didn’t intend, as these ads are not meant to run as part of the pre-game introduction. This will be fixed in future episodes. Thanks for your continued feedback.”

This explanation didn’t prevent fans from letting them know what they think about this specific move and the entire game.
honestly, ad placement is huge income for any brand… The thing is y’all just gotta find out how to make ya breesh without tainting the consumers…

Ads are used for free games. What other 60$ has ads. This is 2k just showcasing their market power.

Don't lie to us. You tried being slick. I already get enough advertisements in the $60 base game. You make more than enough money on game sales and MyTeam. EA just got hammered for the same thing in UFC 4. pic.twitter.com/fk0EHwY6y6

How can a game cost £70 to get on ps4 and ps5, then another 100 to get your player to a high rating to compete and still have unskippable ads. How many other paid games do you know with ads, let alone not being able to skip

$60-100 per game, micro transactions, ad revenue and you still release broken games.

2K fans have been unhappy about the recent editions of the game. They’re always asking for more and the developers and executives don’t seem to listen to them. They are making more moves to upset their clients instead of creating a better experience for them.
