29-year-old CJ McCollum has never made an All-Star team, but his game and perseverance have made him one of the most important players for the Blazers, which explains why they are willing to pay him over $120 million over the next four seasons.
In a recent talk on the latest Talkin’ Blazers podcast, former NBA baller Channing Frye went into detail to describe just how valuable CJ really is to his team…
“If you want CJ McCollum and somebody, you’d have to give me Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart… That’s what I see CJ’s value as.”
Obviously, the Trail Blazers have yet to accomplish their goal of winning a title. Since the Damian Lillard era started in 2012, they have never made a Finals appearance.
Still, behind the partnership of Dame and CJ, Portland basketball has always been relevant, and there is still time for them to win big within the next few years.
As for McCollum, trade rumors continue to circulate as the Blazers look for ways to improve their roster. And while there is no telling what lies in store this offseason, McCollum has always been viewed as a part of their vision.
In 2019-20, he averaged 22 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds on 45.1% shooting.
