The Los Angeles Lakers are quite possibly the best team in the Western Conference. They have two superstars in Anthony Davis and LeBron James who are a perfect fit next to each other. Perhaps they’re even the favorites to come out of the Western Conference. The Lakers can make the Finals, but winning them will be difficult if they’re faced against the Brooklyn Neys: the Nets currently have the big three of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. The Lakers might need some additions to their roster in order to win in the Finals.

Two players that they could target are Derrick Rose and JJ Redick. Both are seasoned veterans who have been through many playoff runs, and they could both relish the opportunity to win a ring. They would each bring different things to the team but their skills would be valuable on a team that is looking for every advantage to dominate their opponents.

The Lakers have a variety of players they can offer in a trade: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma have been playing well this season. Talen Horton-Tucker is a younger player that could thrive in a bigger role, and Alex Caruso is an elite defensive player. Wesley Matthews and Quinn Cook could possibly be on the table as well. Rose and Redick are both players who can do well in a limited role, so their fit on a championship team would be perfect: hence a trade would be beneficial for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Derrick Rose Could Add Scoring To The Bench

Derrick Rose is an elite bench player who is stuck in a situation that is hopeless for contention. Derrick Rose was the 2011 MVP, but injuries have forced him to adjust his explosive game. Rose has re-invented himself as an elite sixth man, being a spark plug scorer off the bench, while also being able to set up his teammates. Derrick Rose is the perfect addition on a team that could use a reliable veteran off the bench. Rose is a fundamentally sound, high IQ player, who can also offer some shot creation during crunch time.

Rose could be a solid option for bench scoring. Dennis Schroder has played the sixth man role on other teams, but with him starting for the Lakers, Rose could be a good player for their depth. Derrick Rose would instantly boost the talent level on the roster: he is also someone that can be trusted in late-game situations, making him an elite addition for leadership and skill. Derrick Rose could run the offense when the other Lakers’ playmakers are sitting. Derrick Rose winning a championship could help his Hall of Fame case as well, making this a beneficial arrangement for both sides. If Rose could win a championship with the Lakers, he would most likely make the Hall of Fame.

JJ Redick Would Bring Elite Shooting

It is common knowledge that superstars generally do better when surrounded by elite shooters: Michael Jordan had Steve Kerr, and LeBron James has had Ray Allen in the past. More shooting on a team would always help: JJ Redick is known as an elite shooter. Redick shoots 41.5% from 3PT range for his career, and during the 2019-20 season, he managed to shoot 45.3% from beyond the arc on 6.6 attempts a game. While he has struggled to start the season with the Pelicans, that can be attributed to adjusting to a new coach in Stan Van Gundy. Redick could do well with playmakers like LeBron James and Dennis Schroder on the court and his shooting is extremely consistent.

JJ Redick’s movement off of the ball could bring another dimension to the Los Angeles Lakers’ offense. His shooting would always be a consistent threat. He could space the floor for Anthony Davis as well, and having a lethal shooter like Redick would make it harder for teams to send double teams at the Los Angeles superstars. JJ Redick would be a perfect fit for the Los Angeles Lakers as a player who can hit long-range shots and who has experience hitting big shots in the playoffs.
