Paul Pierce is the man of the hour around the NBA right now, although not for the best reasons.

The Truth was having a good time with some exotic dancers and a couple of friends and took it to social media, pretty much forcing ESPN’s hand to fire him.

That led to controversial journalist Jason Whitlock to voice his thoughts on Pierce on Twitter, going as far as to compare him with NFL superstar Antonio Brown:

“Covered Paul Pierce’s entire college career. Never anticipated him becoming an eccentric superstar. The live stream video just seems like another lost athlete chasing social media relevance. A different version of Antonio Brown 2.0,” Whitlock said.

To put it in context for those who don’t like football, Brown’s erratic behavior and antics on and off the gridiron made him one of the most infamous characters in the NFL a couple of years ago, up to the point where he was suspended and his future in the league was in doubt.

That’s why Kendrick Perkins didn’t hesitate to defend his former teammate and call out Whitlock for his comments towards Pierce:

“Stop it! I don’t agree with what he did but you are not about to do this homeboy. Real Talk!” Perkins replied.

At the end of the day, Pierce doesn’t seem that affected by losing his job, nor he looks embarrassed for what he did. And that’s fine. That’s his right.

Also, Jason Whitlock has made a living out of firing hot takes and calling athletes out for decades, so his comments should be taken with a grain of salt.
