NY Daily News

LeBron James has been in the NBA for a long time. Of course, over 18 years, he has accomplished a lot of different things in many different ways and in multiple different locations.

Now, in Los Angeles, he’s looking to lead the Lakers to another Championship which is already proving to be difficult. After an 0-6 performance in the preseason, with much of the team looking lost and out of form, major doubts have surfaced about the Purple and Gold, even despite how talented they are on paper.

For it’s worth, LeBron James doesn’t appear to be worried at all.

In a chat with the media, he explained how his patience has grown over the years, even joking about some of the things that make him a different person now than he was with past teams.

“I’ve gotten a little bit more patient with the process as the years went on. I joined D-Wade 11 years ago & Kyrie 7 years ago. I was still figuring out who I was as a person… I didn’t even drink wine yet when I teamed up with D-Wade or Kyrie. Or tequila.”

It’s no surprise that James has picked up a thing or two in the last 18 years. When he started out as an 18-year-old teenager, he was still finding his identity. He was so eager to chase greatness and prove himself as the best, it’s easy to see how he might have been impatient. Today, he’s got a better understanding of the process than most, and he knows how it works.

Sometimes, it takes time for things to get right, for a team to come together. Perhaps that’s what we’re seeing with the Lakers right now.

Whatever the case, as a 17x All-Star, 17x All-NBA player, 4x MVP, and 4x Champion, LeBron James clearly knows what he’s doing. And if he’s not worried about the state of the Lakers, why should we be?
