The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 118-108 at Chase Center on Saturday but Dorian Finney-Smith was rather upset after the game. Towards the end of LeBron James‘ postgame press conference, Finney-Smith could be overheard accusing the Warriors of intentionally turning off hot water for their showers.
“F***ing cold shower,” Finney-Smith said. “… We win, they turn off the hot water.”

That is quite the accusation. This would be incredibly petty behavior if it were done intentionally. You’d want to give the Warriors the benefit of the doubt here but Finney-Smith appears convinced it was done on purpose.
Well, even if done intentionally, it doesn’t change the outcome of the game, which is what actually matters. The Lakers improved to 25-18 on the season with the win and are also up 2-0 in the season series against the Warriors.
Finney-Smith had a solid showing against the Warriors with eight points (3-4 FG) and three rebounds. The 31-year-old is still on a minutes restriction due to an ankle injury he suffered during his time with the Brooklyn Nets and it’s going to take a bit longer before the Lakers see the very best of the forward.
Despite not being fully healthy, Finney-Smith has still been quite impactful on the court for the Lakers, especially on the defensive end. They had acquired him to improve defensively and he has certainly helped in that regard.
While acquiring a player from the Nets this season has worked out for the Lakers, it hasn’t for the Warriors. They brought in Dennis Schroder, who had 10 points here and is averaging 10.4 points on just 36.8% shooting from the field for them on the season. Talk about contrasting fortunes.
The Schroder trade not working out thus far is just one of many things that have gone wrong for the Warriors this season. They dropped to 22-23 with the loss here and are down at 11th in the West.
The Warriors will look to get back to .500 when they take on the Utah Jazz at Chase Center on Tuesday at 10 PM ET. The Lakers, meanwhile, will be in action next against the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center on Monday at 7 PM ET.
Mark Cuban Explained Why He Wanted To Treat Opposing Players Well
Visiting teams getting mistreated like the Lakers seemingly did here is fairly common, but former Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban had a completely different approach. During an episode of the All The Smoke podcast, co-host Stephen Jackson revealed that regardless of the result, opposing players were treated to some delicious food and beverages after road games against the Mavericks and asked Cuban why he did it.
“I wanted to embarrass other owners,” Cuban said. “That’s what it was… I would hear from guys, ‘We don’t get this.’ Where guys who we’d trade for, guys would tell me we just went from the outhouse to the penthouse… I’m like, we’re cooking for our guys, just make a little bit more and give it to the other guys.”
That’s quite an interesting reason. The players certainly appreciated it and that gesture might have tempted some of them to sign with the Mavericks.
