Kawhi Leonard is believed to be one of the most dangerous players in the NBA. Kawhi is one of the quieter voices in the NBA, especially being surrounded by loud and colorful personalities. Kawhi prefers to do his talking on the court.
Over the last few years, Kawhi has established himself as a superstar in the league. He has won two NBA championships; one with the Spurs and one with the Toronto Raptors.
What is interesting about his championship wins is that Kawhi won his two championships at the expense of two dynasties: the Miami Heat in 2014 and the Golden State Warriors in 2019.
Both these teams were thriving before Leonard and his team would defeat them, and they don’t return to the NBA Finals stage for years.
On top of that, his stoic demeanor and killer instinct has caused many fans to dub Kawhi a ‘cyborg’ and a ‘Terminator’.
But what happens when Kawhi meets the original Terminator? We got the answer to that when Leonard met Arnold Schwarzenegger in a commercial for the last Terminator movie.
In the commercial, Arnold welcomes Kawhi, who had just signed with the Clippers, to Los Angeles. Schwarzenegger remarked that there were now two Terminators in LA.
Kawhi then asked why people thought he was a Terminator, and Arnold explained how he was a merciless, stoic figure who dominated the NBA, much like the Terminator did, and also told him it was a compliment.
The two then ran into Paul George and Linda Hamilton, who joked that there were two Terminators in front of them. The exchange between the group was funny, with Hamilton telling Kawhi that she would have to hunt him down if he was a Terminator.
Kawhi laughed off her threat but then turned around to show the red flashing light, a signature of the Terminator character.
The commercial was to promote the new Terminator movie coming out in 2019, but also helped bring Kawhi Leonard into the spotlight as the newest superstar for the Clippers.
Kawhi got a chance with the commercial to show off his comedic side. Leonard had been known as a stoic character who very rarely showed signs of a sense of humor. So this commercial allowed fans to see Kawhi in a whole new light.
