The Golden State Warriors struggled greatly last season. Just one year after having one of their worst league finishes in history, the Warriors aimed for a bounce-back season. The Warriors were no longer the dynasty they used to be just two years prior. Kevin Durant left the Warriors and Klay Thompson got hurt during his practice sessions before the season.
So the Warriors were only left with Stephen Curry as the main All-Star caliber offensive option. And because of this, the Warriors did not perform well last season. They finished 8th in the Western Conference and lost back-to-back play-in games to miss the NBA Playoffs.
Curry still had a fantastic season, even by his own standards. Curry led the league in scoring, five years after his last time doing so. Much like his MVP season, Curry put up phenomenal numbers. But this time, the Warriors were far from 73-9. But as it turns out, Curry wasn’t the only efficient scorer for the Warriors last season.
The duo of Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins were the highest scoring partnership in the NBA last season. The duos behind them were the Wizards’ Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, and Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Curry and Wiggins combined for 3,335 points last season. Beal and Westbrook scored a combined 3323, and Tatum and Brown scored a combined 3122 points.
Curry averaged 32 points per game, and Wiggins averaged a solid 18.9 points per game last season. For the Wizards, Beal averaged 31.3 points per game, and Westbrook averaged 22.2 points per game. And as for Tatum and Brown, they averaged 26.4 and 24.7 points per game respectively.
Wiggins made a case last season for a future with the Golden State Warriors. As of now, the Warriors have not traded him and looks like they will be using him as a starter ahead of the new season. If he can match his production from last year, the Warriors may be a lot better next season.
