Kevin Durant Says He Will Finish His Career With The Brooklyn Nets: ‘The Nets Will Be The Last Stop’

Kevin Durant hasn’t played a single minute of NBA basketball with the Brooklyn Nets, yet it seems like he’s already made up his mind about the fact that he wants to retire with that franchise.

According to Slam, the 2-time Finals MVP recently told Dorell Wright on The Player Tribune’s Text Message Talk Show that he intends to finish his career with the Nets organization, which is a lot to say considering he’s yet to make his debut:

“Kevin Durant doesn’t plan on leaving the Brooklyn Nets anytime soon. In an interview with Dorell Wright on The Player Tribune’s Text Message Talk Show, the 32-year-old superstar says that “as of today” the Nets will be the last stop for him. Durant, who has played in the league for 12 seasons, signed a four-year, $164 million contract with Brooklyn in the 2019 offseason. By the time the deal expires, he’ll be 34-years-old and young enough to secure one more lucrative contract,” the report read.

It seemed like for the first time in his career, Kevin Durant was in full control of his destiny when he decided to team up with Kyrie Irving and dominate the Eastern Conference. There wasn’t any kind of pressure to pursue a Championship after winning a couple with the Golden State Warriors, nor a financial incentive whatsoever.

And, obviously, it all could change in the blink of an eye. We’ve seen these kinds of statements over and over around the league, so nothing should be taken as a fact until we actually see it.

Moreover, even though they’re clearly very close friends, both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are quite volatile characters and what could be meaningless to other people could become the ultimate deal-breaker for them. Hopefully, that won’t be the case and we’ll get to see yet another great dynasty in the league.
