You don’t have to be a basketball expert to realize that Luka Doncic is a special player. He’s dominating the league in ways no other young player had done in terms of breaking records and setting milestones, and he’s years away from reaching his prime.

Doncic turned the Dallas Mavericks into a playoff team and he hasn’t let them down thus far in their two postseason appearances, scoring a combined 70 points (most ever) in the meantime. The young gun is a problem for opposing defenses and he’s just out there having fun.

That’s why his teammate Seth Curry thinks there is a lot of Stephen Curry in Luka’s game. The way they both approach basketball, how they have fun out there, and the crafty moves they enjoy making on the hardwood make them pretty similar:

“It’s just the joy he plays with. He’s a young kid, and you can tell when he gets out on the floor he just loves the game. Honestly, it’s similar to Steph — just out there having a lot of fun. He gets a lot of attention and can pass the ball and get it to me. He is special already,” Curry said in The Ryen Russillo Podcast.

Doncic still has a long path ahead of him in the NBA and it’s pretty clear that Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players to ever do it. Even so, there’s no reason to think that Doncic can’t end up ranked even higher than Steph once it’s all said and done if he keeps up this pace.

Most experts compare Doncic’s game to Larry Bird’s or Magic Johnson’s more than Curry’s. Then again, they do have similar personalities and you can tell they’re really enjoying every second of the game. Hopefully, he’ll fulfill his untapped potential. The sky seems to be the limit for him.
