NBA Rumors: Lakers Can Create A Big Four Next Season

4 Min Read

With a core of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Kyle Kuzma, the Lakers have the makings of a true title contender. Together, those three helped the team earn the top spot in the West with a 49-14 record.

But why stop there?

With how loaded the Western Conference really is, L.A. isn’t exactly the overwhelming favorite to take home the prize — not with the Clippers, Nuggets, Jazz, and Rockets doing their thing.

Regardless of what happens in the next few months, the Lakers would benefit greatly from the acquisition of a few more pieces and Jonathan Kierman of Fansided’s Lake Show Life believes hehe the answer. In a recent article, he suggested a trade that could see the Lakers bring in DeMarcus Cousins and Victor Oladipo.

The Los Angeles Lakers had their big 3 in place this season. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins.

Injury strikes Boogie once more and robs not only Cousins of a year but the Los Angeles Lakers of a player who could have easily been there the third star.

Cousins has been through injury hell for the better part of two years. His perseverance during this difficult time has been nothing short of inspiring.

Cousins has battled back against injuries that could have robbed him of his career, that many players would have simply called it a day and moved on.

Cousins is just one step of a detailed plan laid out by Kierman,

With the salary cap due to take a hammering, the best decision for Giannis is to re-sign with the Bucks and take the max dollars, he can get right now.

This is not good news for the purple and gold. If this comes to pass, the Lakers will need a backup plan that can be turned into a viable solution moving forward.

Enter Victor Oladipo. Like Cousins, injuries have not been kind to Oladipo. He has rightfully sat out the remainder of the NBA season to get his body right for next year. That is the right move long term not just for his body but also for his financial earnings going forward.

With the Pacers paying numerous people and with Sabonis now their go-to guy, is it time to move on from Oladipo? If so, the Pacers could do a lot worse than what the Lakers are offering.

Needless to say, the Lakers would jump at this opportunity. While neither Cousins nor Vic are top-tier superstar players, they have more than enough talent to provide the team with a decent boost on the offensive end of the floor.

The question is, will they be able to recruit them? the promise of rings and glory would be enough to entice anyone but with LeBron and A.D. already on board, anyone else who hops on for the ride will have a highly limited role.

It remains to be seen what Rob Pelinka and his team are able to do when the offseason finally arrives later this year.
