LaMelo Ball may have landed himself in some hot water with his post-game interview. Speaking after the Charlotte Hornets‘ 110-105 win over the Houston Rockets, Ball was asked about his relationship with Kemba Walker. While sharing his admiration for the former NBA All-Star, Ball dropped an f-bomb on live television.

“That’s my brother right there, that’s my dog. Like I said, he’s gang, I’m gang. We’re chilling all the time, I f**k with his family.”

You can hear the interviewer scramble after the unexpected F-bomb. Ball could be fined for his use of colorful language on television, as the NBA has a strict code of conduct that instructs players to not use certain words while speaking in televised interviews. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver might look to make an example of LaMelo.

LaMelo’s use of foul language does indicate that he might need to be a little more media-trained, as it was a very unpolished look from the former Rookie of the Year. Perhaps the league will make him undergo media sensitivity training, or the Hornets might hire a PR team to work with him to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

It’s unfortunate that Ball’s post-game interview has made a few headlines, as it does take away from his genuinely great performance against the Rockets. In what was his first NBA game back since January of this year, LaMelo put up great numbers with 34 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, one steal, and one block.

LaMelo went 10-20 from the field but didn’t have the easiest night shooting the three, as he went 4-12 from beyond the arc. He did go a perfect 10-10 from the stripe, which will be encouraging for the Hornets’ coaching staff.

Unless this becomes a regular occurrence, we can chalk up his poor shooting to rust. Ball’s performance should remind NBA fans that when healthy, he is one of the best young guards in the entire league.

LaMelo Ball Must Get Back To His Best This Season

LaMelo Ball has struggled with injuries in the past few seasons. In 2022-23, Ball played just 36 games, missing more than half of the season.

And last year, the health concerns continued, as he played just 22 games, missing 60 games for the Hornets last year. Combined across the last two seasons, Ball has played just 58 of a possible 164 games, missing 106 games in two years.

The Hornets will be hoping that his injury problems are behind him. The franchise is insistent on building their team around LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. And in order to do so, the duo need to be able to play together regularly to build chemistry. Miller sustained a hip injury in the first half that kept him out of the game in the second half.

Hopefully, Miller’s injury is nothing serious, and we get to see the duo play together more frequently this season. With two possible All-Star caliber players to build around, the Hornets must keep an eye on their health and make sure it doesn’t derail their careers.
