Patrick Beverley Takes Shots At Tyrese Haliburton: “If I Gave You The Ball For 41 Minutes, You’d Have 10 Assists Also”

Patrick Beverley’s comments about Tyrese Haliburton sparked controversy and garnered attention after his impressive performance in Game 5. Beverley didn’t hold back in his assessment of Haliburton’s playmaking abilities after Game 4, questioning the significance of Haliburton’s assist numbers.

“Nothing. Check the numbers, think he’s shooting 19% from the three. If I gave you the ball for 41 minutes, you would have 10 assists also.” (1:44)

In response to a reporter’s question, Beverley dismissed Haliburton’s performance, suggesting that anyone could rack up assists with sufficient playing time. His remarks implied that Haliburton’s high assist numbers were more a result of extended playing time rather than exceptional playmaking skills.

However, Beverley’s comments seemed to work as he delivered a stellar performance himself in Game 5, recording 13 points, 12 assists, and 4 rebounds. Beverley’s stellar playmaking was instrumental in the Milwaukee Bucks’ victory, as he orchestrated the offense efficiently while also making key defensive plays.

In Game 5, Tyrese Haliburton continued his strong play, contributing 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting 6-14 from the field and 4-10 from beyond the arc.

Despite Beverley’s earlier comments questioning Haliburton’s playmaking abilities, the Pacers guard continued to showcase his skills, averaging 15.8 points, 9.2 assists, and 5.8 rebounds over five games. But, his shooting percentages have taken a dip, with Haliburton shooting 43.5% from the field and 31.8% from three-point range.

Beverley’s on-court success contradicted his earlier assessment of Haliburton and added an ironic twist to his comments. By delivering a strong performance in assists, Beverley inadvertently highlighted the significance of playmaking ability and the impact it can have on a game’s outcome.

While Beverley’s comments may have been intended to undermine Haliburton’s reputation, they instead drew attention to the importance of effective playmaking in basketball. Haliburton’s success as a playmaker throughout the season cannot be dismissed solely based on Beverley’s remarks, as evidenced by his impressive assist numbers and contributions to the Pacers.

As the series between the Bucks and the Pacers continues, both Beverley and Haliburton will likely remain in the spotlight, showcasing their respective skills and determination on the court.

The Pacers Need To End This Series In Game 6

The Indiana Pacers find themselves in a precarious position heading into Game 6 against the Milwaukee Bucks. After failing to close out the series in Game 5 despite facing a depleted Bucks roster missing stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the Pacers must seize the opportunity to finish the job at home.

In Game 5, the Pacers squandered a golden opportunity to advance to the second round, facing a Bucks team without their two primary stars. Despite the absence of Antetokounmpo and Lillard, the Bucks rallied behind the stellar performances of Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis to force a Game 6. Now, the Pacers find themselves in a must-win situation to avoid the risk of facing a Game 7 on the road.

Ending the series in Game 6 is crucial for the Pacers for several reasons. Firstly, they have the advantage of playing in front of their home crowd, providing them with the support and energy needed to clinch the victory.

Additionally, closing out the series at home would alleviate the pressure and uncertainty of facing a decisive Game 7, especially against a Bucks team potentially bolstered by the return of their injured stars.

Furthermore, allowing the series to extend to a Game 7 carries the risk of psychological repercussions for the Pacers. Blowing a 3-1 series lead and failing to advance despite having multiple opportunities to do so could dent their confidence and morale heading into a decisive game on the road.

Avoiding such a scenario is imperative for the Pacers to maintain their momentum and belief in their ability to compete at the highest level.

With their season hanging in the balance, the Pacers must approach Game 6 with a sense of urgency and determination. They have the talent and depth to secure the victory and advance to the next round, but they must execute their game plan effectively and capitalize on their home-court advantage.

For the Pacers, it’s now or never—Game 6 is their opportunity to finish the series and move one step closer to their postseason aspirations.
