“He was over at the house, and he actually said, ‘Hey, I can do that, I love babysitting’. “And he did it, he did a great job. The house was a mess.”

Doc Rivers once hired Dennis Rodman to babysit his children.

Rivers, who has transitioned from coaching to commentating this season, explained that he once found himself in need of a babysitter and, surprisingly, Rodman volunteered for the job. In response to his broadcast partner’s question about why he chose Rodman, Rivers mentioned that it was actually Rodman who offered his babysitting services first.

Despite the unconventional choice, Rivers commended Rodman for doing a great job as a babysitter. However, the humorous twist came when Rivers returned home to find his house in disarray, describing it as “a mess.” The story, although a one-time occurrence, left Rivers questioning whether he should be hailed as the “parent of the year or the worst parent.”

This unexpected and amusing revelation provided NBA fans with a glimpse into the lighter side of the league’s history, showcasing the offbeat and entertaining stories that often unfold behind the scenes.

How Many Kids Does Doc Rivers Have?

Doc Rivers, the renowned NBA coach, has four children. His children are named Jeremiah, Callie, Austin, and Spencer. Austin Rivers, one of his sons, has followed in his father’s footsteps and is a professional basketball player who last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA.

Jeremiah Rivers is involved in media production and has worked on various projects. Callie Rivers, Doc Rivers’ daughter, gained attention for her relationship with NBA player Seth Curry, to whom she got engaged. Spencer Rivers, the youngest of Doc’s children, has mostly stayed out of the public eye.

Doc Rivers, known not only for his success as an NBA coach but also for his leadership and mentoring skills, has had a significant impact on the basketball community. His coaching career includes successful stints with teams like the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers, where he played a crucial role in guiding the teams to competitive positions in the league.

Doc Rivers Is Currently An ESPN Commentator

In a significant shakeup at ESPN, Doc Rivers has recently taken on a new role as a commentator for the network. This move comes as part of a broader restructuring that saw the departure of notable figures such as Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy, who were iconic voices in ESPN’s NBA coverage.

Prior to his venture into broadcasting, Rivers had a distinguished career as a head coach in the NBA. His most recent coaching stint was with the Philadelphia 76ers, but his tenure came to an end after a series of playoff disappointments, including a notable second-round loss in the 2023 playoffs to the Boston Celtics. The Sixers, under Rivers’ leadership, squandered a 3-2 series lead, a pattern that unfortunately became associated with Rivers in recent years.

The addition of Doc Rivers to ESPN’s lineup marks a significant move for the network, pairing him with veteran play-by-play announcer Mike Breen. This combination brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience to ESPN’s coverage, offering viewers insightful commentary and analysis.

As Rivers transitions from coaching to the broadcast booth, NBA fans can look forward to hearing his unique perspective and expert insights during ESPN’s basketball broadcasts, adding a fresh voice to the network’s renowned team of analysts.
