We saw the Denver Nuggets win their season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, with a final score of 119-107. The Nuggets were clearly in control for the majority of the game, and though the Lakers made a push late it clearly wasn’t enough to get the win.

After the Nuggets managed to get the win on their home floor in Denver, their fans started chanting “Who’s your daddy” at the Lakers to taunt them.

This chant from Nuggets fans is clearly a reference to broadcaster Vic Lombardi stating that Michael Malone “became the Lakers’ daddy” in the 2023 playoffs, during the team’s parade. It is clear that a rivalry is brewing between the two teams, and we’ll see whether the Lakers can bounce back and get a win against the Nuggets in the future.

Both the Nuggets and the Lakers should be contending this season, based on the talent that is present on both rosters. They can both realistically win it all, and we’ll have to wait to see how both squads end up looking throughout the season.

Michael Malone Rebuked The People Who Criticize Him For Trash-Talking The Lakers

There is no doubt that there has been a history of back-and-forth between the Nuggets and the Lakers recently. Coach Michael Malone was involved in it during the playoffs and was subsequently criticized for his trash talk. However, Malone fired back at people who had an issue with his comments about the Lakers, noting that he will stay true to himself.

“I don’t get it and I really don’t spend any time worrying about. One thing I learned from my mother and father years ago is that you have to stay true to yourself. Nikola is a superstar, but he’s never changed, he’s true to himself. And I’m gonna be me, support my guys, defend my guys, ride with my guys. through the ups and the downs, the wins and the losses. That’s the only people I care about, is the 17 players in that locker room, my family, and all of those fans back in Denver.”

It remains to be seen how this rivalry will develop and whether Michael Malone will continue to throw barbs at the Lakers. It is clear that the coach is willing to stand by what he said, and he is clearly someone who is willing to say what is on his mind.

The Denver Nuggets Could Be The First Team To Repeat As Champions Since The Golden State Warriors

The Nuggets won the 2023 NBA championship, and they definitely could repeat as champions. Nikola Jokic is playing better than ever, and his supporting cast are all young and in their athletic primes.

It is clear that the Western Conference is tougher than ever, with the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors being the biggest threats to the Nuggets potentially winning a championship.

Hopefully, the Nuggets have a productive season, and there is a chance that they could become the next NBA dynasty if they win this year. However, they will have to ensure that they remain locked in for the whole season, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
