- WNBA star A’ja Wilson shared an interesting caption after winning Defensive Player of the Year
- Mikal Bridges then tried to shoot his shot but got roasted
- This was the second time Wilson and Bridges have gone viral
Mikal Bridges once again tried to shoot his shot with A’ja Wilson and once again, he failed. Wilson was recently crowned WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, and she had some fun with the caption for her Instagram post where she celebrated her accomplishment.
“What can I say, I love me some D ..efense”
Wilson definitely knew what she was doing putting out that kind of caption. It caught Bridges’ attention for obvious reasons, but the 27-year-old evidently hadn’t read that there was something written after D. Wilson hilariously then asked him if he was lost.

Donovan Mitchell then chimed in on the situation as well. He feels there is something wrong with both Wilson and Bridges.

It was just all in good fun. Bridges probably would have learned his lesson to be a bit more careful next time. He hilariously stated, though, that he had gotten hacked.

As for Wilson, she has now won DPOY in back-to-back seasons to go with the two MVP awards she won in 2020 and 2022. She is arguably the best player in the league and averaged 22.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game in the 2023 season.
A’ja and her Las Vegas Aces are now also inching closer to their goal of defending their title. They finished the 2023 season with a league-best 34-6 record and after sweeping the Chicago Sky in the first round, are now 2-0 up on the Dallas Wings in the semifinals.
A’ja Wilson Rejected Mikal Bridges’ Request To Attend Her Game
This was actually the second time that these two had gone viral on social media. Back in June earlier this year, Bridges’ request to attend Wilson’s game was rejected by the WNBA star. She told him to leave her alone, and Bridges replied that he’d look it up on Google then.
These two and Mitchell mess around a whole lot with each other, so you shouldn’t take everything they say too seriously. Bridges is a big WNBA fan, though, and supports the New York Liberty. He has been to a few games, and it’s always great to see just how enthusiastic he is about it.
What To Expect From Mikal Bridges And The Nets
The Brooklyn Nets seemed set to hobble to the finish line last season after both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant got traded away. Bridges, though, ensured that would not be the case.
After arriving from the Phoenix Suns as part of the package for Kevin Durant, Bridges averaged 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. He led the way as the Nets finished with a 45-37 record, good enough for the sixth seed in the East.
They got swept by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, but still, it was a good season, as no one was expecting even that much after Durant and Irving’s departures. Now, though, there are some expectations for 2023-24.
I expect Bridges to carry on from last season, but I don’t believe the Nets are going to make too much noise. They have a good shot at making the playoffs but have really made no great moves this offseason which could turn them into contenders. Perhaps if Ben Simmons returns to All-Star form, they might be close to that, but no one can say for certain whether that is going to happen.
