- Bulls point guard expected to miss the entirety of next season
- Stephen A Smith said Ball was having trouble getting back up from the sitting position
- Lonzo responds with a viral video calling out Mr. Smith
Lonzo Ball has already been ruled out for the 2023-24 season, but it’s not all bad news regarding his recovery process. In fact, as he showed in a viral social media video this Tuesday, he’s actually doing better than many fans, and even some insiders, had believed.
In response to ESPN insider Stephen A. Smith making accusations that he was having trouble sitting down, Ball went out of his way to set the record straight. “Stephen A. who are your sources bro? Please tell me who your sources are,” said Ball as he demonstrated his ability to sit down. “You gotta stop yapping… and I like you, man. I don’t even know you like that but I like you! I’m coming back man!”

Last January, Ball suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee that he has yet to fully recover from. For a variety of reasons not fully understood, the area failed to properly heal and he’s had multiple surgeries in an attempt to make it better.
Sadly, the jury is still out on if Zo will ever play again, but he hasn’t given up hope yet and he wants the world to know that he’s on the path to recovery.
So when Stephen A. claimed that Lonzo could barely even stand up on his own, the Bulls’ point guard felt it necessary to prove him wrong.
“I don’t think he’ll ever be the same,” said Stephen A. “I’ve heard that it’s even hard for him to get up from the sitting position… I’m really, really sad for him.”
Will Lonzo Play In The NBA Again?
Ball is hardly the first player to have his career threatened by natural causes, but it’s rare to see in the league nowadays with all the advancements we’ve made in sports medicine and conditioning. Athletes like Ball and other op performers regularly spend millions to keep their bodies in peak condition, but accidents aren’t always preventable, and all it takes is one bad fall for everything to go wrong.
In the case of Lonzo, we are seeing probably the worst-case scenario play out regarding his career, but it should make for an incredible when/if he finally does return to action.
Until then, expect the situation in Chicago to continue in uncertainty as the Bulls wait for good health for their starting point guard.
