Chet Holmgren is fresh off the best summer of his young career. The Oklahoma City Thunder big man just capped his second NBA season with a championship, signed a massive $250 million rookie max extension, and now, he’s enjoying his offseason the way any 23-year-old star might, by joking around with fans online.

On Snapchat this week, Holmgren was asked to name his “All-Time Starting Five.” Naturally, fans expected to see some NBA legends like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Instead, Holmgren went viral for an answer that had nothing to do with basketball and everything to do with Hollywood.

His picks? Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, Salma Hayek, Sofía Vergara, and Margot Robbie.

Holmgren’s tongue-in-cheek lineup immediately made waves across social media. Jessica Alba, once a global star of Fantastic Four and Sin City, has long been a fan favorite. Megan Fox, still remembered for her role in Transformers, was another nostalgic pick for many fans who grew up watching her on the big screen.

Salma Hayek and Sofía Vergara, two of the most celebrated Latina actresses of their generation, brought a mix of talent and glamour to Holmgren’s list. And to round it out, Margot Robbie, who headlined Barbie, one of the most successful films in recent memory, gave the team a modern superstar presence.

For a player known for his dry humor and calm demeanor, the viral moment was another reminder that Holmgren has quickly grown comfortable in the spotlight.

And why wouldn’t he be? After missing his rookie season with a foot injury, Holmgren came back stronger than ever in 2023–24, finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting behind Victor Wembanyama.

This past year, he was a central piece of OKC’s historic run, forming a terrifying frontcourt with Jalen Williams while complementing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s MVP-level play. By the time the Thunder lifted the trophy, Holmgren’s rim protection and floor spacing had become staples of their identity.

The Thunder rewarded that impact in July with a five-year, fully guaranteed max extension worth up to $250 million. It was a signal from the franchise that Holmgren, along with Shai and Jalen, is expected to carry Oklahoma City into a new dynasty era. The young trio has already proven they can go toe-to-toe with the NBA’s best, and with years ahead of them, the Thunder’s window is wide open.

So, while fans were busy debating Holmgren’s All-Hollywood Five, the big picture in Oklahoma City is clear. Holmgren is more than just a rising star; he’s one of the cornerstones of a team built for sustained dominance. He may be joking about lineups online now, but when training camp rolls around, Holmgren will be back to forming real ones with a Thunder squad intent on defending its crown.

For now, though, the internet will keep replaying Chet’s viral answer. After all, not every NBA champion builds their dream team out of Alba, Fox, Hayek, Vergara, and Robbie.
