Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas had one of the most fierce rivalries in the NBA. Even years after retiring from the league, the two superstars do not see eye-to-eye.
While most believe the reason behind it is how the Detroit Pistons tried to hurt Michael Jordan during their matchups, former NBA player Charles Oakley has a different theory.
“Mike does not want to be your friend, Isiah,” Oakley said. “For the fifth time, he does not want to be your friend! Stay on ESPN, keep talking on TNT. Now you’re trying to say everybody’s better than Mike. It’s OK! You are not better than Mike. He came to your city and took your city. That’s why you’re really mad. He took over Chicago.”

Being from Chicago, Thomas must be salty about Jordan taking over his city, as per Oakley. Speaking of which, you can check out our great piece on Chicago natives vs. New York natives. Yes, it features a battle between Thomas and Jordan.
Michael Jordan doesn’t want to become friends with Isiah Thomas, and It is evident from the fact that Zeke has called out MJ several times but has hardly gotten a response from the Chicago Bulls legend. And Mike cannot be blamed for his stance as he was treated terribly by Thomas and the ‘Bad Boys’ Pistons.
Isiah Thomas Wants Michael Jordan To Apologize
Despite Oakley claiming that Jordan doesn’t want to be friends with Thomas, it hasn’t stopped Zeke from demanding an apology from MJ.
The Detroit Pistons legend wants an apology from Jordan for the time he went on national television and called him an a*****e. Thomas clarified that once again in a recent appearance on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast.
“I got no problem sitting down, talking with anybody. I live with love, peace, truth, honesty, and courage, I stand on my square. I’m upright. I’d sit in any chair, and I’d talk to anybody. But some people, they ain’t telling the truth. You got on national television, and you called me an a****e, and then you said you hated me. You said that on national television. Now, if you didn’t mean it, get on national television and apologize for it. Now, if you meant it, let it ride as it is.”
Michael Jordan has maintained his silence on the matter. But there must be a tipping point for the Bulls legend as well. He may finally end up giving a response to Thomas, but we are not sure if it will be an apology. If anything, the GOAT may end up calling out Isiah for his antics over the years.
