Kevin Durant may be one of the greatest basketball players of his generation, but before he became that, he was simply a hoop head. KD is known to be obsessed with the game and watches every game he can from a fan perspective instead of methodically trying to study film.

While talking to JJ Redick on his podcast, KD was asked about the players he enjoys watching the most in the league. The first name he uttered was of Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker, who has been getting a lot of respect from NBA veterans recently.

“I was gonna say (Devin) Book too. It’s just a pretty game for one, but I think he’s really mastering who he is right now. He is figuring it out. How to play at an elite level and still win. He’s scoring the ball, but he knows how to win.”

Durant added more players to the list, giving shoutouts to the three leaders in the scoring title race in Joel Embiid, Giannis Anteokounmpo, and long-time rival LeBron James.

“Joel (Embiid) for sure. I think Giannis (Antetokounmpo) is in that tier, especially when he’s making turnarounds in the post. He made one last night if he’s making shots like that. I think LeBron (James) reached that tier this year, his shot-making is incredible. There are so many dudes. I like shot makers, and now in our league, there are so many great players.

Durant has competed with these players at the highest level and understands their game and how they are so effective. While the Nets have had their fair share of struggles this year, KD is acutely aware of how the opposition is playing and will have a plan of attack as the Nets look to make their way out of the play-in tournament and into the playoff next week.
