Pelicans' Twitter Account Goes At Paul Pierce After Nikola Mitotic Goes Off For 36 Points

One thing that flew way under the radar during these first few games is the play of the New Orleans Pelicans, who are now 2-0 against the Rockets and Kings.

Of course, Anthony Davis is a big part of that and is already cementing himself in the MVP conversation this year. Nikola Mirotic has been essential as well, by following up his 30 points, 10 rebound game on Wednesday with a career-high 36 point night on Friday. In short, he's been nothing short of spectacular.

In fact, it's almost unbelievable. For Charles Barkley, it really was.

On Tuesday night, Charles Barkley said this after Mirotic's scoring outburst:

"No way Mirotic goes off like that again this season."

Paul Pierce got in on that action as well and was quick to write of Niko's performance as maintainable. Of course, following today's career-high achievement, the Pelicans had a little fun barking back at the crew.

After losing DeMarcus Cousins this offseason, expectations weren't set too high for this team coming in.

Though, if they continue to play like this, we might soon have to start placing them higher.

With AD, a team hungry for success, and a roster full of talented players, the Pels are ready to prove they can hang with the big boys this season.

And Niko will be leading the charge.
