Top 10 Worst Defensive Teams In NBA History

It's no secret that the Cleveland Cavaliers have had a rough start to the season on the defensive end.

After starting out their campaign 2-0, beating both the Celtics and the Bucks, Cleveland proceeded to drop games to the Magic, Pelicans, Nets, and Knicks, and currently sit at 5-6 on the season, not a good record for a franchise hoping to make their fourth consecutive Finals.

Many theories have been raised as to why the Cavs have performed so badly to open the season. Things like injuries and constant rotation changes have all played their part, but there's a glaring issue when it comes to Tyronn Lue's team. Defense.

After their most recent win against the Milwaukee Bucks, a game where they scored 124 points but only won by five, this year's Cleveland Cavaliers have the worst defensive rating -- 115.2 to be exact -- out of every team in the NBA, both past and present,

In layman's terms, the 2017-18 Cavs are giving up -- so far anyway -- 115.2 points per 100 possessions on average every single game.

Their defensive rating beats out the infamous 1990-91 Denver Nuggets DRtg of 114.7, a team which is famed for their high-powered offense and non-existent defense, just like this Cavaliers squad.
