Joel Embiid Trade To The Knicks Is Reportedly A Major Possibility: "He Already Owns A House Up In New York...”
By all accounts, 76ers star Joel Embiid is as loyal as they come in the NBA. Despite his team being like a revolving door of co-stars over the years, he has refrained from trying to force his way out. Even still, with the loss of James Harden looming, the 76ers are in a pretty rough spot heading into this season and it makes you wonder how long Embiid will endure it.
While no deal is imminent right now or anytime soon, there is some noise being made about Embiid as a potential trade target in the future and the New York Knicks are one team expected to come calling. According to league insider Keith Pompey, the scenario is actually a real possibility.
"I can see it absolutely happening. Joel already owns a house in New York for a while and the worst-kept secret is that the Knicks have been compiling their first-round draft picks hoping and praying that Joel Embiid asks out. Because if you add Joel Embiid to that team, that team is gonna be catapulted into being one of the top teams in the East."
Certainly, a Knicks squad with Embiid, Jalen Brunson, and Julius Randle would rank among the best in basketball. If they're able to somehow keep RJ Barrett as well, it'd be a massive win for the Knicks. Even after Brunson, Embiid is the type of star that New York has been looking for for years and it would allow them to finally compete for a championship.
The question is, will EMbiid ever become available? And if he does, would the Knicks have the best package? That much remains to be seen, but we've all seen enough to know that Embiid's future in Philly is far from guaranteed.
Embiid Wants To Win
The Embiid buzz reached brand-new levels of activity this week after the MVP was caught saying some interesting things about his priorities moving forward. Speaking with the media, he confirmed his desire to win above all -- no matter where it might be.
"I just want to win a championship, whatever it takes," said Joel. "I don't know where that's going to be, whether it's in Philly or somewhere else...
Only time will tell us how this Embiid saga plays out, but the Knicks and their fans are quietly hoping for something to change that could give them a shot. As it stands, they have the assets to make a highly compelling offer...
