LeBron James has gotten to the top and stayed there for a ridiculously long time now, and this was only possible thanks to the many sacrifices he made along the way. With that in mind, LeBron was asked by Jazzy’s World TV to name the biggest personal sacrifice he’s made on his basketball journey and how he feels about it today.

“I will say just like doing things that you would love to do with your friends,” LeBron said. “You want to hang out with your friends a lot sometimes, and when I was younger, I had to sacrifice maybe not going out with them because I had to get up and work out the next day or train and things of that nature.

“So you’ve got to sacrifice a lot of fun in order to accomplish what you want to accomplish,” LeBron continued. “And if you do that, then the fun will be there on the back end.”

All those times when his friends and kids of his age were out having a blast, LeBron was busy working on his craft. He might have been disappointed by all the fun he was missing out on at the time, but he has reaped the rewards of all that hard work he put in.

LeBron will be entering his 24th season in the NBA in a few months. The 41-year-old is coming off a highly impressive campaign for someone his age, having averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2025-26.

Now, playing for this long has also meant that LeBron has been away from his family a lot. He was asked here how he manages to find the balance between his professional career and his family, and gave all the credit to his wife, Savannah James.

“Well, I mean, the best thing I have, I have support,” LeBron said. “And my wife, Savannah, does a great job of when I’m out, playing my sport or doing my job, she holds the household down. She’s the queen of the kingdom. So, that definitely helps tremendously. And our family wouldn’t be as tight as we are without her. And then when I come home, I try to implement myself into it, but it’s all her.”

LeBron has constantly showered praise on Savannah when it comes to this subject. He has acknowledged he wouldn’t be in a position to play the game he loves without her support.

LeBron also thanked Savannah for allowing him to be the greatest player of all time. She told him she’d take care of the family, and that he didn’t have to worry about anything on the home front.

Now, LeBron has admitted their marriage isn’t picture-perfect, but they worked through hardships and difficult moments and are still together all these years later. High school sweethearts being together in their 40s isn’t something we see all too often today.

What we also don’t see often is someone playing at James’ age. He still hasn’t decided where he is going to play, but has made it clear his family will play a big role in his decision. James also added that he won’t take too much longer to make his decision. He wants to make sure he gets this one right.
