Recently, 2K released its NBA player ratings. While it's no surprise that LeBron James is still at the top of the list with a 96 rating. However, King James wasn't very pleased with 2x Finals MVP Kevin Durant's overall rating.

This upcoming 2K edition has 96 as its highest player rating. The players to make it to this exclusive club other than James and Durant are Stephen Curry and Giannis Antentokounmpo.

Recently, LeBron James voiced his displeasure on Twitter regarding Durant's 2K rating. James felt the Nets superstar was an overall 99 rather than the 96 ratings prescribed to him.

Nah! Should be 99!

Durant himself didn't seem to approve of his rating as well,

I think my rating should be a 99 on NBA 2K. I work extremely hard. I can make shots from all over the floor. I am a solid passer, a great rebounder. Yeah, I pretty much do everything great. That’s why I should be a 99.

One cannot help but agree with James as KD had a great first season with the Nets. The superstar averaged 26.9 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 5.6 APG, and 1.6 BPG on an impressive 53.7% shooting from the field and 45.0% from the 3-point line.

The 4x scoring champion was coming off an Achilles injury that kept him out for a year and a half. However, as soon as he stepped foot on the NBA hardwood, KD was his usual self.

The Brooklyn Nets were one of the favorites to win the 2021 NBA title. Unfortunately, James Harden's injury, followed by Kyrie Irving's injury in Game 4 of the semi-finals, had Durant as the sole source of the Nets offense.

The 11x All-Star put up a show in Games 5 and 7 of the semi-finals but wasn't enough to get past Giannis Antentokounmpo and co.

On the contrary, James had a disappointing season with the Lakers. The purple and gold team was ousted in the first round of the playoffs.

James' ankle injury kept him out for a considerable portion of the season. The 4x Finals MVP didn't look his 100% during the post-season as well. At age 36, unlike his earlier days in Cleveland, the superstar cannot carry a team solely on his shoulders.

Thus taking the 2020-21 season into account as far as stats go, KD definitely had a better year than James. So it's not a surprise that Durant is entitled to a 99 rating in 2K.
