NBA 2k19 is coming out on September 11th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. We have seen plenty of sneak peeks and trailers of gameplay showing certain game modes which has got many excited. They have also leaked the ratings of some NBA players which has made many fans unhappy. These players have a very low rating, making us question, what was 2k thinking?
Blake Griffin - Rating 86
Blake Griffin’s rating has been causing controversy all over social media. Griffin averaged 21.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game with The Clippers and Pistons. Although 86 is still a relatively high number, Griffin is considered to be worse than Jayson Tatum. Don’t get me wrong, Tatum has promising potential and will likely be an All-Star in the future but already being higher than Griffin who is a proven All-Star is unfair.
Kemba Walker - Rating 86
This is the same case as Blake Griffin. Kemba Walker had one of the best seasons of his career, earning himself an All-Star selection for the 2nd time. Walker averaged 22.1 points, 5.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game for The Hornets. An All-Star point guard is rated lower than three rookies coming into their 2nd season. Walker has always been one of the more underrated point guards in the league and this definitely shows why.
Clint Capela - Rating 84
With a fantastic season last year, Clint Capela was recently signed to a five-year extension to stay with the Houston Rockets. The Rockets big man is still young and will be part of their future. The 23-year-old was producing at an All-Star level performance averaging 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game while leading the league in FG%. Capela destroyed Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns (91 overall) in the Playoffs and helped lead Houston to the Western Conference Finals. Capela has been getting better every year so we will only see his rating rise from 84.
Kyle Kuzma - Rating 80
Kyle Kuzma was a late gem of the 2017 NBA draft with The Lakers drafting him with their 27th overall pick in the 1st round. The Lakers Power Forward earned himself an All NBA Rookie First Team averaging 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Producing almost similar stats to 87 overall rookie Jayson Tatum, it’s become clear that Kuzma is just not respected by 2k. With the arrival of LeBron James, Kuzma is never going to see a rating like this again.
Andre Drummond - Rating 87
Andre Drummond has an above average rating that many NBA players wish they had. The Pistons big man was a Double Double machine last season averaging 15.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 3.1 stocks per game. The best rebounder in the league won his title again this year, earning him another All-Star appearance. For someone who impacts a game so much just from rebounding, he should definitely be rated higher than 87.
These ratings are compromised from last seasons performance and 2k’s prediction of their performance this year. Most ratings are well balanced and seem relatively fair this year but these players have been unlucky. You can debate all day about how some ratings are unfair or biased but it will all change once the 2018-19 season starts.
