The new NBA 2K20 presents us some big players and big teams, but there are a few things that we’re missing from the new installment. People always talk about the huge names that we’re going to see in this new edition of the video game, but there is another side that we need to look at, too.
While some players are ready to have a good performance in the video game, we are missing other stars that are worthy to be part of the game. Today, we’re going to list off the 10 best NBA stars, or former stars, that we won’t see in NBA 2K20.
10. Lamar Odom
Lamar Odom is mostly remembered by his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won two back-to-back NBA championships. Odom’s NBA career was pretty decent, as he even received a couple of awards, including the Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2011. Sadly, we won’t get to see Odom in 2K20; perhaps his off-court controversies played a major role in this decision.
9. David West
David West played his last NBA game in 2018, retiring with the Golden State Warriors after winning his second NBA title. This power forward played well wherever he went, but the best time of his career came when he decided to join the Warriors, the team that gave him the chance to become an NBA champion.
8. Metta World Peace
Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, has to be one of the most controversial players in the history of the league, both with the Indiana Pacers, where he starred the infamous ‘Malice at the Palace’, and the Los Angeles Lakers, where he became one of the most hated players in the league for his questionable style of play. It’s crazy to know that MWP was once part of NBA 2K soundtrack, but we won’t see him in this year’s edition of the video game.
7. Deron Williams
Deron Williams was one of the best 5 point guards in the NBA at some point of his career, but the former Utah Jazz player didn’t have a good career after he left his first team in the league. The last time he played an NBA game was in 2017, where he was part of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He doesn’t seem to care about not being in the league, and one imagines he feels the same with NBA 2K20.
6. Joe Johnson
Joe Johnson, just like Deron Williams, wasn’t the same player he used to be in their former team. Johnson joined the Brooklyn Nets in 2012 from the Atlanta Hawks, and that move was anything but good for the swingman. Johnson was one of the most talented players with the ball in his hands, and he’s currently working to find his way back to the NBA.
5. Rasheed Wallace
This list is full of controversial players and this guy is not an exception. Rasheed Wallace was known by the curious way he managed himself, not caring so much about the things he did off the court. However, Sheed changed his career when he joined the Detroit Pistons, taking the Motor City to play for important things, even winning a title in 2004 against the all-powerful Los Angeles Lakers.
4. Manu Ginobili
After all the controversy, it’s time to talk about good things, and that’s why we have the arguably best foreign player in the history of the league, Manu Ginobili. The Argentinian player made sure to leave his mark in the league, playing his own style and becoming one of the most respected and loved players around the association. Throughout his career, Manu won 4 NBA championships, racking up a lot of awards and recognitions along the way.
3. Chris Bosh
Although this story didn’t have a happy ending, Chris Bosh career was full of joy and happiness. He was drafted by the Toronto Raptors back in 2003, instantly improving the level of his team; however, the best moment of his career arrived when he joined forces with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in the Miami Heat. Bosh won two NBA titles with the Heat, becoming a key figure for his team. Complications with his health made him call it quits when he still had a lot of gas in him.
2. Reggie Miller
This one is indeed a big surprise. Reggie Miller is one of the best snipers in the history of the league; a total legend for the Indiana Pacers and the rest of the NBA. Miller ranks second in 3-points made in the history of the league and is without any hesitation one of the fiercest competitors this game has seen. It's crazy not to see him as part of the video game.
1. Charles Barkley
It looks like this game didn’t want anything to do with legends in this new installment. Here we have another huge name that isn’t featured in the game, Charles Barkley. Chuck spent his career chasing a ring that never arrived, but he showed all his greatness throughout the entire road. Barkley is one of the best players in his position, but he won’t be part of NBA 2K20. Without any hesitation the biggest absence of the video game.
