Now that we have introduced all the best players per position in NBA 2K20, it’s time to see another group of players that will surely spark a lot of debates around the NBA community. This is always a complex topic to discuss, but somebody has to do it.
All these players we’re about to see are good assets, but we think they don’t deserve the rating they were given in the new installment of the video game. Today, we’ll let you know who we consider the 10 most overrated players in NBA 2K20.
10. Bam Adebayo - 79
Bam Adebayo is a good player, but his rating in 2K20 doesn’t seem so right. He can be a good asset, can score and help as a rebounder, but his 79 overall rating looks a little too much to the things he’s displayed so far in his career. To put things into perspective, Jarrett Allen, Andrew Wiggins, Brook Lopez, and Fred VanVleet have the same rating as Adebayo, and the other guys have done more important things in the league.
9. Mitchell Robinson - 79
This is the same case as our prior pick Adebayo, who is young and talented, but hasn’t displayed impressive things throughout his career. Mitchell Robinson can become a key figure for the New York Knicks, but right now he’s not worth a 79 overall rating. Players like Eric Gordon and Bobby Portis have the same rating as him, and that doesn’t seem right.
8. Tristan Thompson - 79
Tristan Thompson was left alone in the Cleveland Cavaliers with a bunch of young players, which made the big man has his best offensive season in years. He averaged 10.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in 43 games played, but when you check other players with his exact 79 overall rating, like JaVale McGee, and the numbers he posted last season in comparison to TT’s, it doesn’t look like the Cavalier deserves this rating.
7. Marc Gasol - 82
Marc Gasol was once regarded as one of the best centers in the NBA, but he is not the same young player that became an idol with the Memphis Grizzlies. Although he’s aging, Gasol has proven he can still be a good piece for any team, helping the Toronto Raptors win the NBA title last season. If we compare his 13.6 points per game to Jonas Valanciunas, the guy who was traded to the Grizzlies for Gasol, and his 19.9 points, the 82 overall rating seems a little high in the eyes of many.
6. Bojan Bogdanovic - 83
It’s fair to say that we’re not saying that these players are bad and another case is Bojan Bogdanovic, who was very good for the Indiana Pacers, even more after Victor Oladipo got injured last January. Still, having an 83 overall rating is big for this player, who is one of the best small forwards in the video game. Guys like Kevin Love, Julius Randle, and Danilo Gallinari have the same rating, and we can’t tell why.
5. Kyle Kuzma - 84
Yes, Kyle Kuzma is a future star. Yes, he is set to help Anthony Davis and LeBron James takes the Los Angeles Lakers to the top of the league and last season was a good one for him. However, Kuzma played in 18 more games than his former teammate, Brandon Ingram. While Ingram was given an 81 overall rating, Kuzma got 84, which is odd seeing how similar their numbers were.
4. Jayson Tatum - 85
When we see what the 2K team did with Kuzma and Ingram, it’s mandatory to check what they did with Kuzma and Jayson Tatum, who got an 85 overall rating in the new installment of the video game, one point above Kuzma while scoring three points per game less than the Lakers young player. We don’t know what they were thinking with this, but they’ll probably fix it as the season goes on.
3. Clint Capela - 85
Clint Capela is a very good center, who can post good numbers and is a good defender, but even with all the good things he brings to the table, giving him an 85 overall rating is a little too much. The one thing that stands out above the rest is the fact that he just disappears when the postseason arrives. All of his points and efficiency fade away when the playoffs come, making it hard to imagine that he actually deserves the rating he was given in 2K20.
2. Chris Paul - 85
Even if Chris Paul is past his prime, nobody can say the point guard is not a good player anymore. CP3 was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder last July in a move that sent Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets, proving that his best moments are part of the past now. Last season he averaged just 15.6 points per game, and still was given an 85 overall rating (initially believed to be 87) tied with players like Al Horford, Tobias Harris, and Khris Middleton.
1. LeBron James - 97
This is going to be a controversial spot, but we have reasons to believe LeBron is been overrated in 2K20. Yes, the King has been the highest-rated player in several editions of the video game, but when that happened, he came from big seasons, as the best player in the league.
That’s not the case this year. He edges Kawhi Leonard, who joined the Toronto Raptors and took them to win the NBA title for the first time ever and ranks above the current NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had a marvelous season last year. This game is supposed to be about actuality and how the players ended the prior season, and LeBron wasn’t exactly the best asset in the league.
