Things have finally come to a tailspin in Minnesota, with Jimmy Butler making his trade request this past Wednesday.
For those that have been following, they'll know that there's more than one reason why Butler wants out. Be it problems with KAT, issues with the front office, or just a general change in scenery, it's clear that it is only a matter of time until he's wearing a different jersey.
There might also be another reason, though... and this one deserves a lot more attention than it is getting.
According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, Jimmy Butler sought a renegotiation of his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Before putting in a trade request, that would have paid him $30 million in the 2018-19 season and tacked on an additional four years and $145 million to his deal.
Butler turned down a previous extension offer from the team, one that would've "only" payed him $110 million. Since waiting a year could've earned him $188 mill, that fact isn't that surprising.
The Wolves are just unwilling to commit to paying the money that Jimmy wants, and it has now likely become one of the reasons he wants out.
