2019 Free Agency: Celtics Reportedly Expected To Sign Kemba Walker

Kemba Walker’s journey in the free agency apparently will end sooner than expected given the latest reports surrounding the Charlotte Hornets point guard and his future with the franchise. Walker has been followed by several organizations in the last couple of days, but now his next destination looks clearer than before, according to reports.

It was believed that the Boston Celtics were going to push for Walker this free agency, but knowing that the former UConn player had Charlotte as his priority, not so many people had real hopes to see him playing with any other jersey next season. Yet, now things look different for everybody, including the Hornets, who appear to be moving on on Walker, clearing the path for a different organization to take the guard.

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith (via Adam Kaufman), the Hornets offered Kemba Walker a new contract of 5 years and around $160 million, which made the player changed his mind completely and decide to take a different way this offseason, opting not to come back to the team next season.

It’s weird to see Charlotte taking that position, as they were seemingly trying to retain Walker this offseason at any cost, but seeing their alleged offer to the three-time All-Star, maybe they aren’t that convinced that keeping Kemba with them is the best move at this point.

As for the Celtics, things start to look better for them, if all these rumors happen to be true in the end.
