A talented scoring point guard in his prime is the hottest commodity on the market right now. And although Kemba Walker is not the sexiest name available this July, he will generate significant interest.
During ESPN's mock draft special on Tuesday, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said the Lakers, Knicks, and Mavericks are the three teams most interested in signing Walker away from Charlotte, where the 3x All-Star has played his entire 7-year career.
Unfortunately, the star does not seem to really be considering either the Knicks or Lakers in free agency.
Woj also said in an earlier report that Kemba signing with the Knicks was "unlikely," due to their current state and also stated early this week that the Lakers were not really in consideration for any top tier free agent this summer, including Walker. The Mavericks probably have the best odds outside of the Hornets -- they are set up to be playoff contenders for the next several years.
Either way, all signs point to a re-up with the Hornets. But if talks break down, for whatever reason, you can expect the star point guard to test the waters.
