7 Players That Failed To Sign An Extension With Their Current Teams
The NBA rookie extension deadline has officially passed, and a few notable names have struck extensions with their teams, including Buddy Hield, Jaylen Brown, and Pascal Siakam.
On the opposite end, there are some names that failed to agree to a new deal with their respective teams and are set to hit restricted free-agency this upcoming summer.
According to Woj, the following players will become restricted free agents: Brandon Ingram, Jakob Poeltl, Thon Maker, Malik Beasley, Damian Jones, and Bogdan Bogdanovic. We will add one more player and that is Kris Dunn, who will be a restricted free agent next summer.
Restricted free-agency does not guarantee these players will depart from their teams, it only means their negotiations for a new deal are stalled. This upcoming summer, in particular, will pose a unique opportunity for players to earn their desired paycheck.
Brandon Ingram and Bogdanovic are among the biggest names.
After a trade from L.A. this summer, Ingram was hoisted off to New Orleans, where he is expected to play second-fiddle to Zion Williamson. The circumstances of his new environment and Ingram's unproven skillset are the most likely culprits for his failure to come to terms on a new deal with the Pels.
As for Bogdan Bogdonavic, he is facing uncertain with the Kings, as his role and their status as a team remain big question marks entering the new season.
Expect both players to headline a rather dry free-agent class in 2020.
