Jrue Holiday continues being one of the best players in his position in the league, despite not having as much attention as others. The New Orleans Pelicans star once again showed his quality against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night.
The Pels ended up losing the game, 109-104, but Holiday made sure to show all his talents and defensive prowess on the court. This wasn’t unnoticed and one of the most skilled defenders in the league, Andre Iguodala, named the Pelicans combo guard the best defensive player in the league right now.
“Best defender in the league... Jrue Holiday,” he wrote on Twitter.
Iggy surely knows a thing or two about defense, as he’s been awarded for his talents at the time of guarding. The former Golden State Warriors stalwart is a two-time All-Defensive Team member, so in this respect, Iguodala definitely knows what he’s talking about. No wonder why several contenders are trying to acquire his services this season.
As for Holiday, he’s been great for NOLA following the departure of Anthony Davis in the summer. The Pelicans have a young team that can put up a challenge against anyone, even though their new gem Zion Williamson is yet to play a game in the association.
Holiday is currently putting up 19.0 points (on 43.5 percent shooting), 5.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, a career-high 2.1 steals, and 0.8 blocks, while also draining 1.9 3-pointers per game on a 34.8-percent clip.
