We bet you weren't expecting to hear about Kobe Bryant at the peak of NBA the free agency period. You were wrong.
Despite the movement of stars not retired from the league, it is Kobe (who called it quits three years ago) who took some of the spotlight today. In an interesting quote by former Golden State veteran Andre Iguodala, he revealed the toughest opponent he's had to guard. You can probably guess his answer:
“LeBron’s able to make all his teammates… take them to another level in terms of their play. He enhances all his teammates like no other player I’ve ever seen. LeBron’s able to do that and get 30 points, which kind of makes you scared to help so it’s kind of like you’re on an island with him. But overall, Kobe Bryant is the hardest I had to guard.”
As a 3x Champion, 2x All-Defensive Player, and 2015 Finals MVP, he knows a thing or two about playing defense. He played against LeBron, Kobe, and a whole lot of other offensively-gifted superstars.
To say that Kobe is the toughest player he has ever had to guard is definitely saying something. Whether or not it adds any substance to their placement on the All-Time players list, however, is an entirely different discussion altogether.
