James Harden is doing his best to lead the Rockets to the top of the West this season. 21 games in, and it's fair to say the team is falling short on their goals. An up-and-down couple of weeks has Houston as one of the NBA's biggest question marks of the new season, and nobody is quite sure what they will bring in April and May.
As is typical for their GM Daryl Morey, the team is constantly looking for ways to get better, and a certain veteran forward has already been rumored to be on their radar.
He was sent packing by the Warriors in the sign-and-trade deal that sent D’Angelo Russell to Golden State, and the Grizzlies have decided to sit on him and see if that can get something — anything — before the NBA trade deadline. Houston seems like a good match, but rumors have been abundant this season that he will find a way to end up with the Los Angeles Lakers, teaming up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Iguodala is in the final season of a deal paying him $17.185 million, and the most logical way that he would end up with the Sixers is through a buyout. Semms more likely to this writer than he gets dealt to Houston for superfluous parts.
With a hole on the wing and a vulnerability on the defensive end, Iguodala would be a perfect trade candidate for Houston. After being dealt by Golden State in the summer, the 3x NBA Champion has yet to suit up for the Grizzlies -- who have made it clear they will not let him go for nothing.
It's hard to say for certain what kind of package the Rockets would offer, but Daryl Morey has certainly worked bigger miracles before.
