Andre Miller Reveals Who Are The Best NBA Floor Generals Of All Time

Having a point guard who can facilitate for his teammates on one's basketball roster is generally a good thing. Passing is an essential aspect of the game, and a player who can run the offense and get teammates easy looks makes things a lot easier on the offensive end of the floor.

Andre Miller never made an All-Star team, but during his career, he made a name for himself as an effective pass-first point guard with solid fundamentals. Recently, Miller revealed his list of the best floor generals of all time, naming a lot of legendary point guards such as Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas.

Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, and I'll put Chris Paul up there, the things that he's accomplished during his career for his size, he's up there. Those guys are great leaders, great floor generals, led by example. Their feel for the game and understanding of the game is on such a level, it's like having a PHD in basketball.

There is no doubt that all of these players have a unique knowledge of the game, and that none of these selections are wrong. Five of the players that Andre Miller listed are retired, but Chris Paul is still playing at a high level. Paul is someone that knows all of the rules and the tricks in the book, and he is someone that has often been noted for his ability to get opposing defenders in foul trouble. We have witnessed that over these playoffs.

There has been an uptick in scoring point guards in the modern era of basketball, with players like Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard showing that that playstyle is very viable. With that being said, there's still value in a floor general-type point guard, and there are a fair number of elite playmakers succeeding in the game today.
