Anthony Davis Explains His Trade Request: "I Had To Think About Myself And My Future"

Everyone in the NBA world are talking about Anthony Davis after it was announced that he was requesting a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans. It’s been a hot topic of conversation throughout the entire season but many expected Davis to ride out the rest of the season in New Orleans before deciding his future.

Davis requested the trade through his agent, Rich Paul. We first got to hear what Davis really thought about the matter through a tweet from a reporter, Sherrod Blakely.

"I will always have a place in my heart for this city. Of course it was tough, but at the same time I had to think about myself and my future and my career and move forward."

Anthony Davis will always have strong feelings for New Orleans in his heart but the decision to request a trade away is purely for a chance of improving his career. As one of the best players in the league, Davis wants to find some success when it comes to the postseason. For a contending team to add Davis to their roster, it would highly increase their chances of winning a championship.

The Pelicans have been competitive over the seven years that Davis has played for them, they did an incredible job to sweep the Trail Blazers before bowing down to the eventual champions, the Warriors. However, it’s just not the kind of success that AD is looking for right now, with the talent he holds, he should be pushing for some higher goals.

One of the biggest front-runners to secure the talents of Davis is the Los Angeles Lakers who may not be a contender yet but a team with LeBron and Davis would be almost unstoppable.
