There’s a real belief among many that Anthony Davis may be able to achieve his first ever championship now that he will be playing alongside four-time MVP, LeBron James in Los Angeles this season. Davis is arguably the most talented young player in the entire league and it’s fair to say that he doesn’t lack any confidence in where he stands amongst his NBA peers.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Adam Abdeldaiem, Davis declared himself as the best basketball player on the planet. Davis spoke specifically about his all-around game and the ability to do things that other players can’t and why that puts him on a different level to opposing players.

“I’m the best in the world,” Davis told Sports Illustrated’s Alam Abdeldaiem. “I think I do a lot of things that a lot of players can’t do as far as playing a complete game. I can play on the block, play on the perimeter, play defense on both ends, switch 1-5, guard, score the basketball. I want to be the most dominant player in the game, and I’m going to continue to do that.”

Davis made sure not to discredit some of the other greats of the modern-day game such as Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Steph Curry and his new teammate at the Lakers, LeBron James. The big man described them all as “great players, talented players, Hall of Famers.”

“Everyone wants to be the best in the league,” Davis continued. “Everyone wants to be the most dominant, and that’s when our competitive edge comes out on the floor and makes the game so fun to watch.”

There’s no question that Anthony Davis is one of the absolute stars of the NBA and now alongside LeBron James, the Lakers have a very good chance of making a run for the 2020 championship. With Kawhi Leonard and Paul George heading to the same city to play with the Clippers, Los Angeles is the place to be right now. This is the best chance for Davis to start building his legacy.
