The New Orleans Pelicans could only go as far as Anthony Davis took them. With him on the floor, they were a formidable foe. But when he stepped off, their lack of depth became apparent.

He carried the Pelicans throughout the entirety of his 7-year stretch with them, helping them to two postseason appearances in 2015 and 2018.

As he embarks on this new chapter with the Lakers, he took some time to take a jab at the failures of his former franchise and expressed appreciation towards the support surrounding him on his new team.

"It takes a load off me. It feels good knowing that you don't have to do much. Everybody has a role, and when you have guys all over the board who can score the basketball, you don't need to do everything every possession."

Of course, this comment is a call back to Davis' days in New Orleans, when the team would lose in spite of Davis filling up all the statistical categories.

With LeBron, Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma, and others, that should change in Los Angeles. For the first time in AD's career, he has a strong and star-studded supporting cast. Only time will reveal what he can do with it.
