Anthony Edwards and his Minnesota Timberwolves won a very close and hard-fought game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. The rookie sensation finished with 24 points against the New Yorkers in the T-Wolves 102-101 win over the 5th ranked in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks had the last shot of the game and RJ Barrett had the responsibility to take it. He missed and Minnesota got their 12th victory of the season, which still didn't change their status as the worst team in the league. After the match was over, Edwards had a couple of things to say, especially about that last play and how the Timberwolves wanted Barrett to take the ball.

He took a slight shot at the sophomore, saying they didn't want Julius Randle to get that opportunity and their plan went perfect, with the Canadian guard taking the ball and missing the shot that could have given the W to his team.

"We told Jaden [McDaniels] try not to let [Julius] Randle catch the ball, we're gonna make somebody else beat us," Edwards said. "Gladly, R.J. Barrett caught it, and if he would've made the shot we would've lived with it. I mean, because that's who we wanted taking the shot. We didn't want anybody else taking it."

They knew that was the perfect plan for that play since Barrett isn't the most clutch player on his team. According to NBC Sports, RJ was the fifth-best players on the Knicks on the floor for the last shot:

  • Reggie Bullock 54%
  • Julius Randle 53%
  • Alec Burks 52%
  • Immanuel Quickley 49%
  • R.J. Barrett 48%

The young player replied to Edwards' comments on Twitter, just sharing an emoji below the video of the 2020 No. 1 overall pick.

Ant-Man isn't anybody that will hide his real feelings about anything. He's not afraid of speaking his mind and that is exactly what happened last night. Sometimes you make those shots, sometimes you don't and this time, Barrett couldn't do it.
