With their star big man Anthony Davis under contract through the 20/21 season, one would think that the Pelicans have no reason to panic as the new basketball year nears its start.
True, they are feeling the inevitable pressure of surrounding Davis with a team capable of making a big post-seaosn run.
Yet, for now, they've still got enough time to figure things out before he hits the market in a few years.
Or do they?
In an interesting new development, Bovada sportsbook in Vegas actually gave the Lakers and Celtics the best odds at having Davis, not in 2021 or later, but as early as next season.
In a year, Bovada Sportsbook is predicting that The Brow will get traded to either the Celtics or Lakers before the first game of the 2019/20 campaign.
This speculation comes from the Pelicans' recent failures in building a winning culture, and the recent agent change by Davis to Klutch Sports' Rich Paul (who also represents LeBron).
So, while these scenarios are surely not hard ones to picture, it would be shocking to see these pan out by the start of next season.
Also, the Warriors? Who knows why they're on that list, but perhaps we should ignore that one, hmm?
