Bill Simmons On Jayson Tatum: 'I Just Worry There's Some Jeff Green Or Andrew Wiggins Potential"

The Boston Celtics ended their season on Wednesday night with a Game 5 loss to the Bucks. Besides failing to capitalize on early season expectations, the folks on the roster have come to quite literally hate each other. There was no trust on the floor, and their offense just turned into taking turns playing iso ball.

But perhaps most disappointing of all was the development (or lack thereof) of Jayson Tatum, a player the league has idolized since his playoff run last year. Boston fans were hoping he would become their next great superstar but instead, he has become a model of inefficiency and lethargic play.

Bill Simmons went so far as to draw comparisons between him and other notable disappointments.

"I just worry there's some Jeff Green or Andrew Wiggins potential."

The comparison is a nod to Wiggins' fall from grace. After being one of the NBA's brightest young stars, he has regressed into nothing more than a starter due to his poor shot selection and failure to improve after each given season.

The numbers are very similar, too. They both like long two pointers, they both shoot around 45% from the field, and they both have the potential to be way better then they are.

As changes come this summer for Boston, the team will have to figure out what to do with their young star. After showing so much promise a season ago, is his slide due to a toxic roster, or is it foreshadowing of what is to become the new normal?
