Despite years of disappointment with the Washington Wizards, Bradley Beal has shown nothing but loyalty to the franchise, recently agreeing to an extension that will keep him in town for the next few years.
Their recent struggles have caused many to question why Beal has been so willing to work with the team, and many believe it's only a matter of time until he forces his way out.
For Beal, however, his priority is loyalty -- and he doesn't plan to change that anytime soon.
"It just came down to a decision of, 'What's important to you?' Loyalty is important to you. Building around myself is important. If I go somewhere else it's not built around me. I'm a piece."
Indeed, he has become the face of the Wizards. And on a team with little else going for them, he is the only hope for their future That level of importance is not guaranteed anywhere else, nor is a Championship.
Instead of jumping ship for the sake of increasing his chances, Beal is intent on finding a way to win with his own team, in a city that views him as the foundation.
That mentality seems to be increasingly rare nowadays.
