For a lot of Lakers fans, there was one caveat to acquiring Anthony Davis: giving up Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram. The two were fan favorites, and still rich with potential. For Ingram especially, his three-year tenure with the Lakers made him a face of the franchise.
Ultimately, when it came down to it, neither Ball or Ingram are worth more than Anthony Davis. The Lakers made the deal they had to make, and that's that.
As for Ingram, he made sure to throw a jab towards the team as news broke of the trade. Here is what he posted to Instagram:
He does not seem very shaken-up about his departure. We already know Hart's reaction, which was very similar.
Yes, the Lakers have received some criticism by some for handing over such a large package to the Pelicans for an injury prone guy currently still on a one-year deal. But the mix of LeBron James with all these young guys just does not bode very well, last season was proof of that.
L.A. did what they had to do. And although Ingram, Hart and the others may be glad they do not have to deal with the dysfunction/pressures of playing in L.A., things will no doubt change for the franchise going forward as their Championship hopes have heightened.
