Brandon Ingram Reveals What Advice Magic Johnson Gave Him About His Performance This Season

Magic Johnson's message to Brandon Ingram was simple; don't listen to the noise.

In a recent interview with Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Trudell on Lakers Voices, the young Lakers prospect spoke on the advice Magic have him when the two had a chat about his performance this season.

“I actually talked to Magic maybe a week ago I had the same conversation with him about just being patient,” Ingram told Trudell. “He was just telling me, know ‘it’s gonna come.’ With all the work that I put in this summer, just let it come and just have fun playing basketball. You really don’t want to listen to everyone (about) playing basketball, because everybody is going to tell you what you want. But to hear it from a guy that’s been through it is better.”

It's no secret that Ingram's play this season has been a little disappointing. This is the guy they were banking on to be the next franchise star. True, they've got the best player in the world already, but he can't do it by himself. Or, at least, it'd be a lot easier if he didn't have to.

Though, with season averages of just 15.2 points per game on 47% shooting and 4 rebounds, people are starting to doubt if this guy can be who the Lakers need him to be.

We aren't as patient as Magic Johnson.

For him, and the rest of the team, they're in no rush to see this kid develop. So long as he continues to play hard, it'll come. That's what Magic says... so why shouldn't we believe it?
