Brian Windhorst Says That The "Feel In The League" Is Jazz Want To Overhaul Their Roster Without Trading Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell Addresses Utah Jazz Struggling To Defend The Perimeter In The Playoffs: "It's Something We Can Fix... I Hope."

Donovan Mitchell is one of the best young shooting guards in the league and is widely viewed as the face of the Utah Jazz. He is an explosive athlete, and fantastic at scoring on high volume. During this year's playoff run, Donovan Mitchell averaged 25.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 5.7 APG.

Due to the Utah Jazz being eliminated in the first round, there have been some rumors that have suggested he will request a trade to go elsewhere. Donovan Mitchell didn't necessarily quell those rumors, claiming that he wants to win, and added that he will "think about it in a week and go from there".

Mitchell was asked a different way about the rumors he might want to leave Salt Lake City.

"My mindset is to win,” he said. “Right now, I’m not really looking at that. I answered (the first) question, and you could take that. But for me, I just want to win, yo. Like, this hurts. And like I said, I’ll think about it in a week and go from there. But right now, I’m not thinking at all about that.”

There is no doubt that the optimal move for the Utah Jazz would be to retain their young star and try to make him more willing to stay in Utah with some moves. Brian Windhorst has recently claimed that is what the Jazz want to do, based on "conversations" he's had around the league. (5:18)

I would say that my feel, from conversations I had... The feel in the league is that the Jazz are going to do ... some level of overhaul that doesn't include Donovan Mitchell in an attempt to make Donovan more comfortable.

It remains to be seen if the Utah Jazz are able to make a contender with Donovan Mitchell as the focal point of their team. It is clear that the Donovan Mitchell-Rudy Gobert pairing hasn't worked out in terms of building a championship contender.

The Utah Jazz are known as a well-run franchise, and they have managed to build a team that consistently succeeds in the regular season. Now, it is time to take the next step and build a team whose success translates to the playoffs, and we'll see how they approach that challenge.
