The Bulls left Oracle Arena Friday night with more than just a loss. Bobby Portis, who's shown a lot of promise so far, left the game with a sprained elbow. Portis had to sit Saturday's game and is day to day due to an elbow that feels “funny.”
According to Portis, the injury was more than just an unfortunate incident on the court. In his eyes, the injury was caused purposely by Kevin Durant, and he wasn't afraid to call him out on it.
“Yeah, that wasn’t inadvertent,” he said via The Chicago Tribune. “If I would have done that, I would have gotten a foul called on me. I guess it’s just who you’re playing against. Everything is officiated different toward whoever it is, but if you look back at the video at the time, it was obvious.’’
It's hard to tell if it really is intentional, but it certainly does seem a little unnatural. Regardless, Portis isn't expecting any apologies.
“Ain’t no apologies in basketball. Nobody feels sorry for nobody. That’s how it goes.”
The two had obviously been kawing at each other all night, and things like this happen frequently in the NBA. The Bulls and Warriors don't meet again this season, so we'll never get to see how the teams would respond to each other.
What it will do is damage Durant's already broken reputation. Even though the play is a bit murky, folks will not take this lightly, as most already view Durant as a villain. These are the types of things that just don't slip by for him anymore.
