The 1980s Los Angeles Lakers and the 1990s Chicago Bulls are among the best dynasties the NBA has ever seen. While the Lakers were stacked with talented players like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, and Byron Scott, the Chicago Bulls had their fair share of star power with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman.

Winning a combined total of 11 titles in total, the two teams dominated their specific eras of basketball. But given how great these teams were, there is always a lingering question for fans and players alike, which team would come out on top between the 80s Lakers and the Chicago Bulls?

Byron Scott Thinks The Showtime Lakers Would Easily Beat The Bulls

Although it isn’t possible to determine which team would come out on top, former Lakers guard Byron Scott has an answer for the same.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Scott claimed that the showtime Lakers would definitely beat the 90s Bulls featuring Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman.

“You didn’t have to guard Dennis Rodman. On our team and in the 80s you had five guys on the court all those guys could dribble, shoot, rebound, run, I mean it was a different style of basketball. When I look at our era compared to this era, you know I always think that we would have been very competitive as a basketball team.”

“I still think we were one of the greatest teams that ever you know that ever played the game, that was ever assembled. I’ll take us against that Bulls team you know with MJ, Rodman, and Scottie.”

The showtime Lakers were one of the most stacked rosters out there. With an all-time great like Magic Johnson and one of the greatest centers in league history in Kareem leading the way, the Lakers were a scary team to face off against. Not only that the likes of Byron Scott and James Worthy were All-Stars who acted as a great support system to the superstar duo.

Given that the Lakers won five championships in an era of Larry Bird’s Boston Celtics, speaks volumes of the star power of the Lakers. Given how stacked they were, it is easy to see why Scott is confident that the Lake show would beat MJ’s Bulls. Who do you think would have prevailed?
