Caris LeVert initially resisted the idea of being traded from the Brooklyn Nets.
But, by the time Brooklyn reached a deal on the Harden trade last week, LeVert was gone from the team and shipped to Indiana as part of a huge, blockbuster four-way deal.
In the process, though, a routine physical examination on LeVert revealed a small mass in his left kidney. As he awaits news of his prognosis, LeVert took a minute to express gratefulness about the trade that helped unearth a potentially serious health problem.
“It’s definitely been a crazy couple days and it’s gonna be a crazy recovery,” LeVert said, via ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. “…This trade could’ve possibly saved me in the long run.
We are grateful for their extreme thoroughness during the physical process and I am looking forward to joining the team and being part of this great organization as soon as possible."
No word yet had been shared on if the tumor is benign or cancerous but, either way, it's the James Harden trade he was dreading so much that exposed the problem and it could be the thing that ends up literally saving his life.
It's funny how life works sometimes...
