Steph Curry is currently in some of the best forms in his career so far this season with the Warriors guard being considered as one of the early MVP favorites.
However, not everyone shares the same opinion about Curry. Retired star and current NBA Analyst, Charles Barkley, believes that not only is Steph Curry not the best player in the league, he’s also not in the Top 4 best players.
Barkley spoke with TMZ Sports this week about Steph and how even though he loves and respects the two-time MVP, he doesn’t consider him to be on the same level as players like LeBron and Durant.
"I love Steph, but he's not with those guys," Barkley says.
"Well, I think LeBron is the best player in the league. I think Kawhi, Kevin [Durant] and Giannis are all right there together."
All four players that Barkley mentioned certainly deserve to be considered as the best players currently in the league with how well they can dominate and change a game. However, it’s a bold statement to say that Steph doesn’t belong amongst those names. Curry has won back to back MVP awards and three championships with the Warriors along with being the benchmark of the competition when it comes to 3-point scoring.
Curry has shown how much the Warriors need him to be the successful side they are with the team struggling to win matches without their famous guard when he was out injured.
In his first 19 games this season, Curry is averaging 29.3 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and 5.7 assists per game. Not to mention, he is currently shooting an incredibly 48 percent from the 3-point line this season.
His statistics stack up well when compared to the other names that Charles Barkley rates as the greatest players in the league. It will be interesting to see how all five players progress over the season and which of them can keep up their impressive early form.
